A Mexican news website says Florida Keys-based stunt pilot Freddy Cabanas died in a plane crash today in Cozumel, Mexico.

Sources close to the Cabanas family confirmed the death, but no one would officially go on record. Terra México, in Spanish, reported the Cabanas' death online and said a journalist who was a passenger died as well.

Island City Flying Service owner Paul dePoo said in a text to The Citizen that he was looking into the details of the crash and would get back to reporters as soon as possible.
