Growing up in the Keys, it was not uncommon to see one of those ugly gray Marine Patrol boats go by while out on the water. The officers on board were tasked with interdicting people who violated Florida fishing regulations. As they patrolled the waters surrounding our islands they also served as the first line of response by providing life-saving assistance to boaters and divers in trouble.
