1st Key West-Havana pilot remembered
Bronze bust erected at airport nearly a century after feat

Flying from Key West to Cuba hardly seems like a challenge today, but in the early 1900s it was a treacherous feat that only the most gutsy pilot would dare attempt.

The Monroe County Commission agreed this month to pay half the cost for construction of a bronze bust of the first pilot to successfully make the crossing over the Florida Straits by air -- Domingo Rosillo.
