Snakes, iguanas and feral cats, beware
Plan deals with invasive species in Keys

After nearly seven years of debate and review, Florida Keys refuge managers have released plans for the control and removal of large invasive snakes, iguanas and feral cats from the four refuges.

Exotic invasive species are a threat to the refuges' threatened and endangered species by preying on them, competing for food and habitat and by altering habitats. Species such as t...

Deadly cats

Domestic and feral cats killed 15 billion birds and mammals last year...or so read the article in the Miami Herald today.

One would Think

Any feral cat worth his salt should easily control snake and iguana populations.

IF you want to get rid of the iguanas

give a couple 10 yr old kids some pellet guns and let them get to work

very smart

lets not stop at pellet guns...give them AK-15's...it has to start somewhere

Very smart

We used to shoot each other with BB.'s when I was a kid, it was called BB Gun wars, and yes I have served in the military as an adult. Kids and the under 35 generation is are so wimpiy, touchy, and oh so emotional. Who ever posted giving kids BB guns to wipe out the iguana population was spot on. By the way, what is a AK-15? I know what a AK-47 is, as well as what an AR-15 is. Very smart you are...

Ass-15

Smart enough not to know what they are called...jerk

I remember when my father

I remember when my father made me chop up my Red Rider wooden stocked Daisy bb gun out in the yard with an axe. That was a sweet shooter, pulled a little to the left though, but I learned to compensate with a little Kentucky windage. I could knock a robin off a phone line two backyards down. I bet it would be worth something now.

Torpedo is right,

bb gun wars, bottle rocket fights. Dirt clods; kids were a tougher bunch. I still have my red ryder bb gun with the original box. David2009, you can still buy a new one online. Lets not forget those fiberglass bows we got from Sears, they definately can take down an iguana. For the guy who doesn't know the difference between a ar15 and an ak47, go to the range , rent one , and shoot . You'll gain knowledge and maybe a new hobby.
