How does Mr. wells know that a wider channel will not bring more passengers?

John Wells who profits mightily from the cruise ships is toeing the new line that people who would like to examine the true costs of the industry are elitists. In fact the issue is about the negative impact economically, culturally and environmentally of the industry on key West. It is not about who the visitors are, it is about how to maintain a sustainable tourist economy and still keep our town livable for the residents. With letters from Swift, Hettlinger and Wells it appears the big boys are getting understandably nervous. Time for the residents and city leaders to take control.
