Truman Waterfront plans on table
Fields, playground, theater, community center on tap

Having spent 15 years under public scrutiny and review by various city committees and elected boards, the Truman Waterfront Park "preliminary master plan" is a paperwork reality, due for the Navy's first 90-day review starting Feb. 15.

City planners, who released volumes of plans this month, have also drawn up an approval schedule that estimates a full plan and...

We don't NEED an amiptheater, nor do we need horse stables

We don't NEED an ampitheater, nor do we need horse stables for the KWPD's stupid program. The cops on horseback do nothing but play around on taxpayer dollars and text on their horses. The clip-clop disrupts the dogs in the neighborhood and it's a horrid noise for a long time.

And what is an 'interactive water feature'? Is this to be the Spottswood "publicly funded to line their pockets" marina? And what are the plans for a 'revenue-generating' restaurant. Is the city now in the restaurant business?

"Master Plan" my ass

In order for something to have a master plan, a mind, not necessarily a masterful one, is required. There are very few high functioning minds in the City, and those that are work, purely and quite evilly, for their own personal gain. The only thing happening here is the hopeful waiting game the city is playing. That is waiting to see if we, the people of Key West, who were actually given this land, will forget all that and let the City hand it over to the Spottswoods. FYI, we won't.

234 parking places

This was supposed to be a park. This was supposed to mitigate traffic concerns in Bahama Village. Congratulation neighbors. Your local boy commissioner sold you out. Wait for the Miami style sidewalks eliminating your parking. The last residential, family neighborhood in Key West sold out to Cruise Ships, "events" and 234 more cars. I guess soon every week will be gridlock on our streets. I hope the navy takes the land back and tells The City to shove it. We are not capable of doing anything for area residents, only for the overlords of Tourism, none of whom live anywhere close.

Title change

I think a better title to this article should be Spottswood Waterfront. Key West is run by the few, anyone who has resided here for any amount of time knows. Spottswood gives NOTHING, only takes from the community.
