Eatery group is sued
Ex-employees claim their tips were taken

A Coral Gables attorney this week filed a series of lawsuits on behalf of more than 20 restaurant employees who worked at restaurants owned by Joe Walsh and C.W. Dement, including Mangoes, Fogarty's, Jack Flats, Caroline's and Red Fish Blue Fish.

It's great that these workers are standing up for themselves! Business owners that steal from employees need to be held accountable. It's hard enough to make a living in this town as a bartender or server, and for owners and managers to take your tips away to pay other staff or themselves is inexcusable. Go get 'em, you guys!!

Even when I pay with a credit card

I like to hand the server a tip. That way I know for sure they got the $. I was never comfortable leaving the tip on the credit card bill. Servers should be paid up front for their services. They only make $1.50- $2.50 and hour by the restaurants and should get their tip money immediately.

it has to do with credit card tips that should be paid out every night in cash after the shift is over....servers ....keep track of your c.c. tips

And the city considers him a good businessman? At least according to the deal for the brewery. ANd SHultz, great partner, we see where you commitments lies making deals with a thief of locals like this. It is not the first accusation, against them either.

Your tip doesn't go to your server?

Is Walsh contending that when a customer leavers a tip for their server, it is up to him to decide who receives it... including a share for himself?
