Lawmaker calls for No Name power vote

Monroe County Commissioner David Rice plans to call for a vote on bringing commercial electricity to No Name Key, saying the county has discouraged utilities on the island for long enough and should now allow it to move forward.

Rice wants the County Commission to vote on the issue at its March 20 meeting in Marathon, when the commission is scheduled to talk in closed sessio...

Short memory problems.

Galleon Bay has won a judgment against the County. The jury only has to determine the amount of damages, which are likely to be 5 to 8 million. For those with memory problems, Galleon Bay has the rights to build 46 homes on No Name Key. Does ANYONE actually think that those homes will not have electric power and other utilities? Does the county want to get sued again, and with their own money? It matters little if the county changes its mind or not. They are way past stupid. No home can be denied power and the state will not deny them power no matter what the county says. This is ridiculous and it was ridiculous from the beginning.

God forbid one inch of land be left alone.

Why would anyone want to leave one inch of land undeveloped? One square mile of night stars out-shined by the almighty mercury vapor light?

Every inch of our once-beautiful Florida Keys must be developed!

New Idea!

Here's an idea, how about you have the County take your rights for power and a few other things without telling you, or asking how you or your neighbors might might feel. Just let them take your word for it that you and your neighbors no longer want those ugly poles and wires or a power bill. Scream real loud. Make yourself sound like an expert. Then do us all a favor and report back, say in August or so if you are actually here in the Keys during the summer, how everyone 'likes' their new, forced, 'lifestyle'. Oh, darn, never mind, the folks on No Name can already tell us that having the County follow one loud mouth's lies for 20 years really sucks as does the humiliation of having to beg for fair and equal treatment over something you and others already have. We would all love to read how your theft, err I mean experiment, goes so please do get back to us later this year with an update. This topis is not about development or even a lovely star studded night's sky. From what I hear, it's about stealing and discrimiantion.

Sylvia Murphy is

correct, To allow power now would result in massive lawsuits the County would lose. The question really is ; how will Rice profit from this debacle?

Better be glad that idiot

Wiggington's gone. That Bobo would have cost you fools another million.

More of the Same Red Dog, Green Dog...Dr. Seuss Stuff

Some for, some against and Putney wanting to delay the inevitable while telling the Commissioners how to govern. It's right out of a children's book and would be funny if not so sad and serious an issue to people's lives. Watch the Court soon demand permits be issued, perhaps before these clowns can 'call for a vote' and then watch the PSC soon rule that the installation can, of course, stay forever. Watch these lies and myths fall, one after another as if created by the Cat in the Hat trying to decieve a bunch of children while their mother was out of the house. I say put a For Sale sign in front of that home at the end of No Name Drive and take the lies and Commissioner Murphy, somewhere else, like Who-ville.

All right, sometimes you

All right, sometimes you just have to go for it.
