Pelican strikes wire,

causes power outages

Shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday, a pelican struck a power line causing an outage to 2,200 KEYS' customers in Summerland, Ramrod, and the Torch keys. The outage affected homes near Mile Marker 24 on US 1.

KEYS' crews were able to restore power within an hour.
