Divorce finances
KEY LARGO -- Dr. Carol Erb, a board-certified Christian counselor, and Jerry Gaddis, a tax and financial specialist, will team together to discuss tips and strategies to help attendees stabilize finances and gain confidence when facing a divorce.

Health fair
TAVERNIER -- Mariners Hospital's annual community health fair will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in the lobby of the Tassell Medical Arts Building on the Mariners campus, mile marker 91.5, bayside.
Free health screenings and tests will be given for blood pressure, vision, glucose, body composition, osteoporosis, cholesterol and breast cancer. Appointments are not necessary for any screening. Fasting is not required for the cholesterol test.
Information will be available at booths staffed by AHEC, SHINE, the Monroe County Health Department and the National Kidney Foundation of Florida. The Community Blood Centers of South Florida will hold a blood drive.
Free goody bags will be given to the first 200 people. Attendees who visit at least 15 booths will be eligible for a drawing for a Wellness Basket, valued at more than $250.
Conviction appealed
PLANTATION KEY -- A man sentenced to 24 years in federal prison Jan. 28 on child pornography charges is appealing, according to court documents.
Michael Maran, of 88976 Overseas Highway, was arrested in May after a computer sting operation.
He was convicted of possessing and distributing images of underage girls having sex with adult men.
The appeal will be heard by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
