Ruling in CPA case

A state agency has ruled that School District administrator Ken Gentile did not act inappropriately when he listed "Florida CPA" on his resume when applying for work. Gentile, director of Finance and Performance, was certified as a CPA with New York state, but let his license lapse. He was suspended without pay for five days last year.

Monroe County School District attorneys now will decide how to respond to the ruling.

Though the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation has ruled, the case is not yet closed. A video hearing between the Marathon Government Center and Tallahassee is set for 9 a.m. March 20.

For the life of me, I can't figure why the County allows

For the life of me, I can't figure why the County allows criminals and frauds to make such hefty salaries on the backs of the taxpayers. This guy is a proven fraud and a bully and even infringes on the rights of his employees. We, the taxpayers, do not want him and if he were in a job with a REAL company, he'd have been fired long ago.

Amen to that!

What the heck are the superintendent and board thinking? I'm pretty sure my kids teachers would be fired on the spot if it turned out that they were not Florida certified teachers -why is a top paid executive allowed to lie? I'm also dissappointed that the hot line is getting tossed out now because Gentile turns out to be the bully! Wasn't the point of the hotline to catch people just like Gentile?

Is it sometimes, always or never

OK to let your license expire? If it is expired you should not practice.

If I let my fishing license lapse

and continued to work ; I would be arrested and taken to jail. If I lied on my resume to falsely obtain a job I would be terminated. What is not clear here, Gentile needs to be terminated. If not for lying , then for Poor Performance and creating a hostile work enviroment. Too much of this behavior is prevelent in our school system. I heard a new verb is in the system that replaces "favoritism" . A parent was asking for special favors for her daughter and requested that the matter be "Amberized". No, you can't make up this stuff.
