Protected tree snails now slugging around Key West botanical garden

A colony of 77 expatriate Stock Island tree snails returned home on Tuesday.

Crews with the Florida Keys Electric Cooperative (FKEC) were trimming tree branches along Card Sound Road earlier this month when they discovered the snails, which are protected under state and federal law.
