KEY LARGO - The Key Largo Volunteer Fire-Rescue Department will now have a deputy fire chief.

Chief Sergio Garcia has named former firefighter Ike Beal to the post.

Beal said he told Garcia he would accept the post the night before the annual awards banquet, when the hiring was officially announced.

At last week's meeting of the Key Largo Fire-EMS District, Beal said he will receive reimbursement for his service, but that figures were never discussed with Garcia.
