Road rage on Stretch

Two off-duty road patrol deputies were charged Thursday after a Feb. 18 road-rage incident in which one allegedly brandished a gun.

The Florida Highway Patrol issued notices to appear for Deputies Darnell Durham and Kyle Page. Durham is charged with reckless driving, criminal mischief and giving false information during a law enforcement investigation; Page is charged wit...

It's called the Blue Code.

Police "investigating" police. Always there will be flaws in the investigation, allowing the whole thing to be brushed aside. "Nothing to see here, folks".

Huh?

If I was witnessed "kicking the door" of another vehicle, chasing it and then pointing a gun at the occupants, I'm pretty sure I would have gone to jail right there and then. No question. Now he is only charged with criminal mischief? PLEASE!.....(shakes head AGAIN)

Poster Boys for the Second Amendment

These are the law enforcement folks that many think should be the only ones entrusted with the right to bear arms, that they are the ones that will protect us and that is all the protection we need? Rogue cops like these are one of the many reasons that the Second Amendment is so necessary - to give we the people the power to protect ourselves from our protectors.

Here in KW and in the Keys, all we HAVE are rogue cops.

Here in KW and in the Keys, all we HAVE are rogue cops. Nothing has changed since the old Bubba bust days. Now that I think of it, none of our 'finest' have been caught planning to capture, torture and eat women like cops elsewhere. They're screwey everywhere, I guess.

What is not mentioned

The two deputies were searched, their motorcycles were searched, the stretch was searched....NO GUN!! Also not mentioned witnesses stopped to tell troopers the white truck was trying to run over the two deputies on bikes. BTW the deputies were detained for more than two hours that night. I don't blame the citizen for this, because the trooper failed to mention this in his report. Makes you wonder why these facts aren't mentioned in the report. Also it's interesting the MCSO provided the report not FHP. I have lost all hope of the citizen doing any investigative journalism, but please Mr Gore, when these deputies are cleared, write a story.

WITNESSES.......CORROBORATED THE ACCOUNT:

There were WITNESSES. They....CORROBORATED the account. Do you know what CORROBORATED means? What that means is.......THEY.....TOLD THE SAME STORY. HELLO! HELLO!

Yes i am aware

The meaning of the word. Yes the article states that. The statement by Mr Gore in his article "witnesses corroborated the account", is incorrect and very misleading. I see why you and Mr Gore would be confused. The report is very vague and poorly written. The part of the five page report that mentions witnesses, is the trooper writing that he told the deputies that witnesses corroborated the story. Several witnesses did stop and offer statements about what occurred. Without getting into everyone of those statements, no witness saw any GUN. One witness even told troopers the white truck tried to run over the two motorcycles. The content of the witness statements is not in the police report. I wonder why?

Guns can be thrown in the mangroves and canals easily on

Guns can be thrown in the mangroves and canals easily on the 18 mile stretch. Never trust a cop nor one who supports one.

Do you think

That if Tina and I were riding on the stretch and I got mad when Tina tried to pass me, called the police and told them Tina pointed a gun at me. Tina is stopped it's discovered Tina has no gun. So then I say Tina kicked my truck. No other person saw any of this with the exception of my girlfriend in my truck. Do you think Tina would be arrested that night or ten days later? Because you could have thrown your handgun into the water. Handguns Tina are expensive and have serial numbers that can be tracked to to owner. So Tina would you be arrested under theses circumstances? No. But these deputies were. Would you have been detained for two hours that night based on my word? No. But these deputies were. Would you have allowed the trooper to search you or your vehicle, because they didn't have proable cause to search without consent. Based on your feeling about law enforcement , no. But these deputies did. It's unfortunate you have had bad experiences with law enforcement. You have no idea what happened that night. But as a law enforcement officer I know based on the facts of that night if I did to you or any other citizen what was done to these deputies, you would not be arrested and if you were you would cleared of any charges and I would be sued by you and probably fired by my agency. Even though you think myself and members if my profession can not be trusted, I still hope you call if you need help and I will still risk my life to save yours. Thanks Tina

Yah, I've seen your type of 'help'. I personally know a number

of your kind and I know what your games are. When you don't do your job, innocent victims are hurt. A friend was badly injured in an accident and because the officer didn't DO HIS JOB and COMPLETE HIS PAPERWORK PROPERLY and DRUG TEST THE PERP, he was out of a lot of money that could've come from a state fund to help victims of drug addicted and drunk people. I also know someone who was robbed by a roommate, and then when SHE found the jewelry in a pawn shop, the cops picked it up for 'evidence' and it disappeared. I also know someone who had to call the police because of a violent, drugged up roommate. Instead of taking him to jail, they dropped him off somewhere in town. Then he promptly sued for 'illegal eviction', since the cops once again didn't do their job. With protection like yours, who needs enemies?

Can't Trust A Good Guy With A Gun

Contrary to what the NRA says, it looks like you can't trust a good guy with a gun after all. The civilian ownership of guns should be banned and a police officer's gun when the officer is off duty should be locked in the armory at the station house.

the cover up begins

You or I would have been arrested on the spot, the officers were only given notices to appear. You or I would have been charged with firearm offenses, the officer was not. You won't hear much more about this.

No uniform? No badge? No identification?

This is yet another case....of cops being POWER DRUNK. It's a serious problem. No uniform? No badge? No ID......riding a motorcycle......and directly aiming a firearm.....at someone? Are you kidding? That...is the quickest way that I can think of.....to get your brains blown out. What if the driver of the truck.....had a firearm.....and felt threatened? What if he panicked.....and caused a serious crash? What if he had a heart attack or anxiety attack......and died at the wheel? These "cops".......make real Police look bad. They definitely make the MCSO look bad. FIRE BOTH OF THEM. And while you're at it......"blackball" them as well....so they can't pull this "TV" hero crap on some other citizen. They need to go. Now. I wonder what would happen...if the shoe....were on the other foot? What if the truck driver......pulled a 9 mm. ....while passing a police cruiser and aimed it at the driver? WHAT.....would happen...then? This....is bad. Get rid of these two cowboys. Do it now. They make REAL Police look bad.

They will resign

What's even scarier is what these cops do when they are IN UNIFORM. How many people get arrested for assaulting an officer when we know it was the other way around? Hundreds! How many people are dying as inmates of blunt trauma (aka seizure or suicide)? If IA opens a file, these cops will just resign for a year, then be rehired. Happens all the time.

Slap on wrist

Then after the slap on the wrist, they'll probably be promoted. These two clowns can get crazy down here because its one way in, one way out. Like shooting fish in a barrel. They play that crap in Little Haiti, or the Bronx, or even L A, they'll get their ass handed to them. They better stay here in Disneyland where its safe.

Classic MCSO behavior. Now what about the sargeant with the

Classic MCSO behavior. Now what about the sargeant with the gun store? Is he still working his own business on taxpayer dollars? The guy is NOT what we want on our payroll.

It would appear

the pig professional courtesy rule does not apply with FHP.....

Well Sal

Did you know the sheriffs office was actively involved in this case. In fact a captain arrived on the scene and was given directions on how to handle this by sheriff Ramsay directly. I can't wait for the truth to come out and just pray the citizen prints an article then. The sheriffs office is quick to release a statement to the citizen when a deputy is arrested. In this case given a ticket not taken to jail and after tens day of the geniuses at FHP and MCSO looking for a way to screw the deputies. According to my count the last three deputies arrested by MCSO were all found not guilty by a jury or charges completely dropped before it went to court. I never saw a single story about those deputies being cleared. When these deputies are clear I'm sure I will not see a story either. So to sum it up for you Sal your praise for FHP is misplaced and ignorant. This is the troopers who's cases get dismissed in Monroe County, he doesn't stand a chance in Dade. Not all troppers just the one who made this arrest, and just happens to be friends with the captain on scene and our sheriff. This Trooper you praise has a problem with the truth. I predict 0 for 4.

I think

I think Sal refers to the fact that there was any action was taken at all. Usually in cases like this, the cops will put on a little show at the site of the incident and then nothing is reported and no paper is issued. Professional courtesy, if you will.

It would appear

my post went right over your head!!!!!!!!!
