Like Most Museums Here

It's a joke. The center piece is a poorly constructed diorama of Fort Jefferson. It looks like a high school art project. The cabinet is cheap looking thrift store furniture. When we went, the building smelled like dead fish. The history of the fort isn't very well displayed and there's a history of the turtle industry which has nothing to do with Fort Jefferson. Stick to a theme. Finally, they slapped some photos of birds upon the back wall with no list identifying the species of each. It looks like they had no idea what to put in this museum. I don't know but how about uniforms, rifles, handcuffs, etc that were used at the fort. How about an ACTUAL history of the fort and not just some cheesy shill designed to make more money for Ed Swift?

Makes you wonder...

... to whom they are NOT paying rent?
