Learn prehistoric plant use

The Key West Tropical Forest and Botanical Garden will celebrate Archeology Month with a presentation about how prehistoric Native Americans used plants, at 7 p.m. March 12 at the garden.

Indigenous Florida Keys' flora will be among the species discussed.

The guest speaker will be Michelle Williams, director of the Southeast Region of the Florida Public Archaeology Network at Florida Atlantic University. She is an archaeologist who specializes in the genre.

The event will be in the Forest's Nature Chapel, at the garden on College Road. It's free for garden members; $5 for others, but students are free.

Concert feeds children

Proceeds from the Key West Woman's Club annual Woman's Hope Concert later this month will benefit Wesley House Family Services' food program for students living at or below poverty level. The concert raises money for a different nonprofit every year.

The concert will take place at 8 p.m. March 22 at the Tennessee Williams Theatre, on the campus of Florida Keys Community College. The Nutritional Backpack Program provides 6 to 8 pounds of child-friendly, nutritious food for children at Inez Martin Child Care Center and their siblings, whose families can't feed them properly over the weekend or holidays. Potential, new moms invited

Lower Keys Medical Center will host an event for expectant moms, those trying to conceive, new moms and babies from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 26 at the Marriott Beachside, 3841 N. Roosevelt Blvd.

CuddleBugs Baby Shower and Community Health Event will offer information, gifts, activities and healthy treats and refreshments, and a free CuddleBug.

Prizes include a professional photo shoot, baby shower basket and more. Services offered for free include: blood pressure and weight check, baby weight check and baby vision check by pediatrician Dr. Stanley Sack.

There will be plenty of free parking and easy access from the multi-level parking garage.
