Fault triggers outage

LOWER KEYS: An electrical fault in the Florida Keys Electric Cooperative territory tripped the tieline at 10:22 a.m. Tuesday, shutting down power to all Keys Energy Services customers for six minutes, according to Keys Energy spokesman Julio Barroso.

Electricity was back on by 10:28 a.m., he added. The reason for the fault was unknown by press deadlines.

The FKEC's computers showed the fault was 29.5 miles north of the Marathon electrical substation, Barroso said. Keys Energy provides power from Key West up to the south end of the Seven Mile Bridge.
