Family mourns 2-year-old boy
Toddler wanders outside, is apparently hit by car on Overseas Highway

Mark Alward and Christina Lucchesi frantically searched their Key Largo neighborhood after discovering their 2-year-old son was missing from his bed shortly before midnight Tuesday.

When they couldn't find him, they reached out to police for help.

But the search party, which grew to include the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Florida Highway Patrol and U....

Tragedy

To all of you people out there speaking out of turn before ALL of the facts are known Shut Up! I suggest instead that you have a little respect for the family of the victim and put them in your prayers. LE and the SAO office will ultimately decide if there was any criminal negligence on either the part of the parents or the drivers. The fact that the driver has a criminal past has little to do with this incident.

Really?

You have to wonder about someone who hit something hard enough to cause damage to his car, yet didn't stop to see what he'd hit.

Our hearts go out to this

Our hearts go out to this family and those who know them. Prayers for all. The driver should get every inch of the law thrown at him. Even if he did think it was an animal, he didn't even stop to look. No respect for life at all. Hope he doesn't get off easy....

This is the way of today's

This is the way of today's world, everyone makes a run for it when things like this happen.

Tragic accident

I don't think now is the time to blame anyone, regardless of weather the driver or the parents are at fault. Instead have a little bit of class and think about the innocent victim and keep him in your prayers.

Thanks

Wonderful comment!

note to be petty but it is

note to be petty but it is whether, or else you meant to use commas and make it weather, the driver or the parents.. Either way, the driver is a moron, and I am perplexed y the plausibility of a toddler getting loose.

Ditto on the toddler.

How hard is it to childproof a home and put locks high on a door? And who would not hear a door opening and closing in the home before midnight? Something is very wrong with this picture.

Think before you post

Obviously you have never raised children. They are very creative and great escape artists. Instead of judging have a little class and sympathy for the parents!

CLEARLY

Lacking in human warmth and compassion and needlessly cruel.

CLEARLY no one here even thinks of the facts.

Facts will solve a problem and will enable the investigators to find the truth. Maudlin whining and crying will not.

Warmth and compassion are not part of a news story. It's about the facts of the case. If this type of thing is not discussed, then it will happen again - perhaps to your darling child.

As a mother of a toddler..

As a mother of a toddler.. It is so easy for them to figure things out. I can do something one time and my son can repeat it 5 minutes later . He knows how to unlock the dead bolt on our front door and open the door. There have been many occasions where we have caught him trying to leave. Never underestimate a toddler. Instead of pointing fingers and bashing the parents who are mourning the loss of their baby... Have some sympathy that a small child has lost their life way too soon.

Common sense

Thanks for the intelligent post

So your toddler can open a lock 7' from the floor?

Really?

Dumb remark

You obviously don,t have children!
