Trees, trees go away near NAS runways
Military must strike balance between safety, environment

New mangroves are taking root at Boca Chica Field.

The Navy has completed roughly half of its $50 million environmental restoration and runway safety project at Boca Chica Field and is on schedule to be done by August 2014, said Lt. Cmdr. Pat Meagher, Naval Air Station Key West public works officer.
