Mariners earns respiratory recognition

Mariners Hospital recently received the Quality Respiratory Care Recognition (QRCR) for 2013 from the American Association for Respiratory Care. This is the sixth consecutive year Mariners Hospital received the award, which recognizes the outstanding respiratory care patients receive at the hospital, states a hospital press release.

Mariners is one of only 700 hospitals, or approximately 15 percent in the United States, to receive this national award, which can help patients and families make informed decisions about the quality of the respiratory services in hospitals. Hospitals earning the QRCR designation are held to strict criteria governing respiratory care services, the release states.

Mariners' respiratory therapists provide inpatient and outpatient care to people with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis and lung cancer. The therapists also play a leading role in helping to diagnose asthma, emphysema and other pulmonary problems in the hospital's pulmonary function laboratory.
