Suspicious letter closes post office
Sender claimed powder was anthrax; early indicators point to hoax

The downtown Key West post office was locked down for about five hours Friday after an employee opened a letter addressed to the post office that claimed to contain anthrax. The envelope looked to have been sent by an inmate in a Maryland prison. It contained a white powder, but initial tests at the scene did not indicate anthrax, officials said.
