Angel Ignacio Rodriguez of Key West, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the age of 88.

Mr. Rodriguez was born and raised in the Province of Las Villas, Cuba. He came to the United States with his family in 1971 and settled in Key West, where he spent his adult life.

Mr. Rodriguez was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a loyal and true friend to all who knew him. He loved his family dearly and they loved him.

As a young man in Cuba, he started his working life in the tobacco business, cultivating and rolling cigars, and eventually he took his craft to the United States. In 1984, he established Rodriguez Cigar Factory in Key West with his wife, Daniela, leaving a legacy. Mr. Rodriguez loved all sports, especially boxing and baseball. He was a loyal Marlins fan and never missed a game.

Angel is survived by his loving wife, Daniela Orlinda, of 59 years of marriage; his four children, Juana (Al) DiFabio, Petra (Eddie) Sanchez, Mayra (Phillip) Bethel, and Angel F. Rodriguez (Nika); his grandchildren, Angel F. Rodriguez Jr., Lauren (John) Gianella, Lisel Rodriguez, Ariel Sanchez, Daniel DiFabio and Brittney Bethel; his great-grandchildren, Diego Rodriguez, Dominick Rodriguez, Angelina Rodriguez, Alicia McCain, John J. Rodriguez, Ariana Rodriguez and Rachel Kipperman.

Mr. Rodriguez also leaves his extended family whom he also loved dearly, Bonnie and Sammy Kipperman, Jack Moreno, Amanda Rodriguez and Doctor Elias J. Gerth and family.

Funeral arrangements will be provided by Dean-Lopez Funeral home.

A Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at The Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea, followed by burial at the Key West Cemetery.
