We should show teachers more appreciation than an annual luncheon

Last week was Teacher Appreciation Week around the country. One would not have recognized it as such in Monroe County. Yes, there were a variety of special luncheons generously offered to our schoolteachers and yes, they were gratefully accepted. But, otherwise, teachers in Monroe County schools are increasingly demoralized and preparing to leave the profession. Let's face it, why in the world...
