Delio Alfonso, 89, of Key West, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at his residence.

He was born in Key West on Nov. 28, 1923, to the late Ralph and Lina Alfonso.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eponine Alfonso; brothers Ralph, Mario, Horacio and Gerald Alfonso, and Diego Torres; sister Aurora Alfonso; sons Danny Valdez and Tony Valdes; and grandsons Orlando Valdez and Jeffery Valdes.

He is survived by one brother, Albert Santana; three sisters, Eloisa Pierce, Rose (Manuel) Mira and Alice Stroud; sons Joe (Cira) Valdez, John Valdes and Richard (Estela) Alfonso; and daughters Nancy Anderson and Diana (Emilio) Carrasquillo.

He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Delio was a good husband, father, son, brother and grandpa. He was loved by many and will truly be missed!

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1117 White St., Key West; Armando Mesa officiating.
