Vitas: New homeless shelter is priority
City manager hires consultant for help with 24/7 facility

The city of Key West has plenty on its plate when it comes to building projects, having racked up nearly $100 million in construction plans in various stages of design.

But the plan to recreate the homeless shelter into a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week comprehensive center is the island's priority, City Manager Bob Vitas said this week.
