Sewer meeting for property owners

Village sewer contractor Reynolds Water Islamorada will host a preconstruction meeting for property owners in south Plantation Key, excluding Venetian Shores, and Windley Key at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Founders Park Community Center, Mile Marker 87, bayside.

Representatives from Reynolds, the village and Wade Trim will discuss the project design, process and timeline, how information will be disseminated to residents, and the hook-up procedure that will follow.

Learn all about cemeteries

A Cemetery Resource Protection Training (CRPT) workshop by Florida Atlantic University will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 20 at Old City Hall, 510 Greene St.

"Join the Florida Public Archaeology Network to explore cemetery care and protection," organizers say. The course will teach how to use cemeteries as historical resources, what legal issues surround their care, what constitutes appropriate conservation techniques and how to manage cemetery landscapes.

The class will practice cleaning headstones at the historic Key West City Cemetery. Registration is $15. Contact Michele at


Volunteers sought for event

The organizers of Mel Fisher Days 2013 are seeking volunteers to help with this year's event. VolunteerSpot, an online database, is being used to register anyone who wants to help.
