Ray Willard Taylor Jr., 53, of Key West, Fla., passed away in the Bahamas on Sunday, June 16, 2013.

He was born in Key West, Fla., son of the late Ray W. Taylor Sr. and Carolyn James. Ray owned and operated his business "Taylor Roofing" out of Key West and the last five years he was in the Bahamas installing metal roofs. He was a very talented roofer and was one of the best when it came to customizing and installing metal roofs.

He worked very hard to provide for his children and was very proud of them. He is preceded in death by his father, Ray W. Taylor Sr., his mother, Carolyn James, and his grandfather, James Taylor Sr. He is survived by his wife, Mercedes Taylor of Naples, Fla.; his grandmother, Margaret Taylor of Key West, Fla.; his daughters, Jennifer Taylor of Key West, Fla., Rae Tiffany Taylor (Mark) of St. Augustine, Fla., Brittany Taylor (Dave) of St. Augustine, Fla., Katrina Fazio of St. Augustine, Fla.; his stepdaughter, Benondre Cerezo (Chris) of Orlando, Fla.; his stepsons, Javier Fazio and David Jones; stepdaughters, Tara Boza and Rachel Walterson; six grandchildren, Staci Rae Childs, Leno Laster, Gerald Hernandez, Ray Ortiz, Jada Garmas, Jazly Garmas; two sisters and three brothers. Ray will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity for helping those in need.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday July 8, 2013, at the Dean-Lopez Funeral Home, 418 Simonton Street, Key West, Fla.

Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday July 8, 2013, at The Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea. Burial will be in Key West City Cemetery. The Dean-Lopez Funeral Home is entrusted with all funeral arrangements.
