County ruling upheld
'Takings' lawsuit may set precedent

An appeals court has ruled in favor of Monroe County in a precedent-setting "takings" lawsuit that could have cost the local government millions.

The 3rd District Court of Appeal upheld the ruling of County Judge Tegan Slaton that the county did not deprive 10 of 11 Florida Keys property owners of their rights by prohibiting them from developing the land the way they wanted....
