A local photographer wants to bring "positive energy" to the Keys Energy Services board.
Vidal, who said he legally changed his name to one word, announced Friday that he is running for the seat of current Utility Board member Lou Hernandez, who is retiring.
"I want to be a strong voice for the citizens of Key West," Vidal said. "As an approachable and personable member of our community, I want to keep the public better informed of Keys Energy Services."
One of his main goals is to bridge gaps in communication between customers and the board.
"Everyone is important and they should remain informed," Vidal said. "Technology is growing at such a fast pace, I have found that some of Keys Energy's longest paying customers are being left behind. Those customers that don't happen to have access to the Internet or utilize it to review the minutes of the board meetings need an alternative."
Vidal is bilingual and would be able to hear all customers' complaints and concerns, not just those who speak English, he said.
He has worked in the marketing and communication field for more than 33 years.
"By listening to my customers and carrying through their vision, I have touched the lives of thousands of people not only in our community but worldwide," he said. "I am happiest when sharing with others my skills as a communicator, negotiator and advocate."
Vidal has worked with many international companies in all areas of business, such as Fiat of Italy, the Discovery Channel, Calvin Klein, DuPont Paints, Mentor Corporation, and Fox Television, he said.
"I want to represent the citizens and their best interests at heart when voting on any and all decisions regarding Keys Energy's policies and procedures," he said.
Vidal is a graduate of Key West High School and attended Florida Keys Community College, with Dean's List recognition.
