Monroe tops state property-tax list
Study shows tax rate near bottom, but some of the highest property values

Florida Keys property owners pay more in property taxes than any other Florida county, despite having one of the lowest millage, or tax, rates in the state.

The nonprofit Florida Tax Watch reviewed tax information for all 64 counties in 2011 and found that Monroe County taxpayers paid on average $2,842, which includes city, county, schools and special taxing districts. Count...
