MARGARET 'BONNIE' WHALTON FADDEN

MS. BONNIE WHALTON-FADDEN, 84, A FIFTH-GENERATION NATIVE OF KEY WEST, PASSED AWAY MONDAY, JUNE 24, 2013.

BONNIE WAS A STRONG WOMAN WHO, IN SO MANY WAYS, LIVED UP TO HER RICH FAMILY HERITAGE. BONNIE'S ANCESTORS WERE THE KEY WEST LIGHTHOUSE KEEPERS. HER FATHER, STEPHEN F. WHALTON, WAS BORN IN THE KEEPER'S QUARTERS, THE SMALL HOME STILL LOCATED ON THE PROPERTY. HER FAMILY WAS A PART OF "THE LIGHTHOUSE DYNASTY" AND PART OF AN AMAZING KEY WEST HISTORY GOING BACK TO THE 1700S. AFTER HIGH SCHOOL, MS. FADDEN ATTENDED COLLEGE AND BECAME AN RN. SHE BEGAN HER CAREER WORKING AS A CRUISE SHIP NURSE FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS, WHERE SHE MET HER HUSBAND, WHO WAS A SHIP CAPTAIN. SHE WAS MARRIED AND MOVED BACK HOME TO KEY WEST TO START A FAMILY.

BONNIE IS SURVIVED BY ONE SON, LEE RALPH FADDEN; A DAUGHTER, MEGGAN ST. CLAIRE; ONE GRANDSON, MICHAEL ST. CLAIRE; ONE GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTER, JASMIN SOPHIA ST. CLAIRE; THREE SISTERS, PATRICIA CORRISS, BETTY JEAN SPRAGUE AND MILDRED TIFT; AND NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

MS. FADDEN WAS A MEMBER OF ST. MARY STAR OF THE SEA CATHOLIC CHURCH, WHERE HER MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 11 A.M. SATURDAY, AUG. 17. FOLLOWING THE SERVICE AND BURIAL IN THE FAMILY PLOT IN THE CITY CEMETERY, SANDWICHES AND REFRESHMENTS WILL BE SERVED AT THE HYATT, 601 FRONT ST., TO CELEBRATE BONNIE'S LIFE. WE WELCOME ALL FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO ATTEND ALL EVENTS.
