Lower Keys Medical Center honors 3

Lower Keys Medical Center recently honored Merlyn Andaya, registered nurse on the medical-surgical floor; Social Worker Claire Villate and Jamica Ross in the resource management department with the "Getting 2 Great" associate awards. The individuals are continually recognized by patients, always exceed expectations, and model the "Getting 2 Great" guiding principles of servant leadership, never settling and always doing the right thing, states a hospital press release.

Andaya was recently mentioned in patient surveys and on the associate kudos site. Her co-workers noted that "Merlyn rocked out as charge nurse on the medical surgical unit...." A patient comment stated; "The nurses I felt were very good nurses and treated me with respect and courtesy" and specifically mentioned Andaya's name. She is highly respected and valued by her peers for her critical thinking and clinical skills, the release states.

Villate had a recent patient state in their survey; "Claire talked to me (and the group) kindly and real. I came to the hospital a mess and left feeling better about myself than I have in years. Thanks for giving me my life back." Her manager describes her as an exemplary associate, saying, "Recently, one of the social worker team members was out for two months and Claire covered extra weekends when needed, with grace and dignity. Behavioral health is blessed to have not only Claire's skills and dependability as a team player but she's also a fantastic patient advocate."

Ross is mentioned frequently by her manager, co-workers and other associates throughout the hospital. Recently, though, her regional manager commented that during his rounding, she was recognized as "always available and always answers all emails and requests." Ross was the only hospital associate mentioned during his visit. Her manager said, "Jamica makes us all look good here at LKMC and all the way to the HMA corporate team."
