StayFit Members Stay Fit

StayFit Studio congratulates Beth Vetter as the August "Fit Member of the Month."

"No matter what, you will find Beth at any one of our many classes, her commitment to making time in her busy life for fitness is inspiring," said StayFit owner Raquel Robbins-McCarthy.

Stay Fit created the award to recognize outstanding StayFit members who are well-rounded, show determination, consistency and commitment to her/his goals and health. Each "Fit Member of the Month" receives free classes and a complimentary massage at the studio.

Garcia, Delgado mark 5 years at credit union

Keys Federal Credit Union recently recognized Desiree Garcia and Alberto Delgado for five years of excellent service. Garcia began her career as a teller in Marathon. In 2010, she was promoted to branch supervisor in Marathon. One of her favorite functions is showing members how to save money on their daily finances. Many Marathon members have lowered their auto and boat loan payments with Desiree's help, states a press release from the credit union.

Originally from New Jersey, Garcia moved to the Keys in 2000 to be near family who lived here. She holds an associate of arts degree from Florida Keys Community College and a bachelor of science in business management from Hodges University.

Delgado specializes in talking with members and helping them solve challenging financial conundrums.

"Alberto is a valuable asset to our team. He demonstrates listening skills, patience, and an understanding of the Credit Union philosophy of "people helping people," said Manager Amy Collins. He is always personable and strives to give everyone exceptional personal service."

Alberto was born and raised in Key West and speaks fluent Spanish. He graduated from Key West High School and is now completing his associate degree in business management.

Zontian of the month

Mechelle Burgohy was recently named Zontian of the Month by Status Chair Lisa Benfield. Burgohy has been a member of Zonta since March 2011. She was very active in Zonta's recent Radio Day that raised funds for future scholarships and heart health screening for women.

First State's Jones joins Chamber board

First State Bank of the Florida Keys' Linda Jones, Big Pine assistant branch manager, has joined the board of directors of the Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce.

"I am delighted to ... help our Lower Keys community become a better place to work and live," said Jones.

Jones joined the bank's Big Pine branch in early 2013, bringing more than 10 years of banking experience. She lives in Summerland Key.
