Health tests for Womenfest
To celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and through a grant from the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure, The Florida Keys Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is offering free breast and bone density screenings to all women participating in Womenfest in Key West.
These screenings will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday and Friday at Ocean Wellness Spa, 828 Simonton St.
No appointment is necessary but questions can be directed to registered nurse Megan O'Neill at 305-743-7111 ext. 206.
Motor oil disposal site changes
The Village of Islamorada's disposal site for used motor oil is temporarily unavailable while the facility is relocated.
Islamorada residents may take used motor oil to a Monroe County Transfer Station. The Key Largo Transfer Station, 300 Magnolia St., near Mile Marker 100.3, accepts used motor oil from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, and the Long Key Transfer Station at Mile Marker 68 accepts motor oil from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Used motor oil collection and recycling will be included in the Village's new solid waste agreement that is currently in the proposal process. A new site will be made available early next year, according to a Village press release.
For more information, contact the Islamorada Public Works Department at 305-852-6933 or email@example.com.
