Sneak Peek at men's fashion show models
Mona Santiago will host a "sneak peek" of the models in the Samuel's House 4th Annual Men in Paradise Fashion Show. The Sneak Peek Party will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Southernmost Point Guesthouse, 1327 Duval St.
Admission is free that evening, with complimentary food and beverages, to support the contestants who will be featured at the outrageously entertaining Men in Paradise Fashion Show and Luncheon on Nov. 2.
Tickets art still available for the fashion show, which takes place at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 2 at the Marriott Beachside Resort and raises money for Samuel's House.
The men will model their own favorite poolside or casual look and formal attire while raising donations from the audience. The man with the most riches in his bucket will be crowned "2013 King of Paradise." Tickets are available at keystix.com.

Village gets $50K preservation grant
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program awarded Islamorada a $50,000 grant to complete improvements to the Key Tree Cactus Preserve.
Islamorada acquired the 9-acre preserve, named for an endangered cactus that grows there, in 2009 with Florida Forever grant assistance and through a partnership with The Conservation Fund and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. The grant money will help fund a nature trail with educational signage, a canoe/kayak landing, picnic pavilion with picnic tables, playground equipment, a composting restroom and a small parking area with a bike rack.
Work will begin early next year with completion scheduled for April 2016.
Workshop slated for hotel rule changes
The Village Council will host a workshop on hotel redevelopment regulations at 3 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Founders Park Community Center, Mile Marker 87, bayside.
Hoteliers and other interested parties are invited.
Consideration is being given to changing existing regulations to allow hotel rooms to include multiple bathrooms. At the workshop, the council, village manager, planners and a representative from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity will explain the current regulations, address the requested changes, gather input and answer questions.
For those unable to attend, the workshop will be televised on Comcast channel 77 and broadcast live from the village website. To view the webcast, visit www.islamorada.fl.us and click on the Webcast tab in the top menu bar.
