The Florida History Department will reopen on Sept. 17.

Alcohol booth lottery soon

Fantasy Fest provides alcohol-sales vending booths for nonprofits through a lottery.

Ten spaces -- five for the Friday Street Fair, Oct. 25, and five for the promenade and parade Oct. 26 -- are available.

To be considered for a vendor space, representatives from nonprofits must attend the Liquor Lottery and sponsor product information meeting at 5 p.m. Sept. 16 at Dante's, 951 Caroline St. Bring the nonprofit's 501(c)3 paperwork.

For booth locations, pricing and application information, call the Street Fair coordinator at 305-296-1817.

Road project starts Sept. 16

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin a $2.5 million roadwork project on Sept. 16 from Mile Markers 11.3 to 14.6, and 15.2 to 15.9. The work should be done in five months.

It includes: repaving and restriping, upgrading signs, extending turn lanes and widening shoulders for bicycle access. One lane at a time will be closed at various times between 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday mornings, FDOT says.
