Levy teaches conflict resolution

"Conflict Resolution" will be the topic of an upcoming seminar facilitated by local trainer and author Elisa Levy. The seminar is being presented by the Key West Chamber of Commerce and will take place from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 26 at the Marriott Beachside Resort.

The seminar will cover the five types of conflict and how to address each one; three steps for resolving a conflict; conflict mediation; effective listening; anger management and more.

Diabetes group meets

The Mariners Hospital diabetes support group will meet at 6 p.m. Sept. 26 in the executive conference room of the hospital, Mile Marker 91.5, bayside.

The session will start with a brief talk by dietitian Susan Vaicekavicius and diabetes nurse educator Clair Hefner, who will discuss dietary supplements, such as herbs and vitamins, that may be beneficial for diabetics.

The evening also will include time for group discussion about other areas of concern.

Goodman meets Republicans

Florida Keys Mosquito Control Commissioner Phil Goodman will address the Upper Keys Republican Club at 6 p.m. Sept. 25, at Robbie's Marina, Mile Marker 77, bayside.

Goodman will discuss the district's proposed use of remotely-operated drones and genetically-modified mosquitoes as part of its mosquito eradication program.

A 5:30 p.m. reception will precede presentation. Hors d'oeuvres will be served. The event is $10 per person and a cash bar is available.
