ISLAMORADA -- The village's used motor oil disposal site is being relocated and disposal of waste oil within the village is temporarily unavailable.
Islamorada residents may take used motor oil to a Monroe County Transfer Station. The two nearest options are the Key Largo Transfer Station at 300 Magnolia Street, near mile marker 100.3, oceanside, which accepts used motor oil on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and the Long Key Transfer Station at mile marker 68, bayside, which accepts used motor oil Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Used motor oil collection and recycling will be included in the new solid waste agreement that is currently in the proposal process. A new site will be made available early next year.
