Shutdown closes bay waters, too
Fishing guides, tourneys hit hard; 1 captain plans to hit patch reefs instead

Nearly all of 850 square-mile Florida Bay will be closed as long as the federal government is shut down.

Fishing guides were notified via email Monday that they had to be out of Everglades National Park waters, which include 90 percent of the bay, by 6 p.m. that evening.

"We regret the burden that this will place on your livelihood.
