Fair Share meets Oct. 23
Fair Share for Key Largo, an organization of local residents and business owners working to encourage Monroe County to pave roads, equally fund wastewater and purchase Rowell's Marina, will meet at the Key Largo Lions Club at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 23.
Fair Share was initially formed to embrace incorporation but has shifted its emphasis in order to work directly with the county to improve Key Largo.
All residents are invited to hear guest Monroe County Public Works Engineering Director Kevin Wilson discuss the county's plans for repairing county roads within this unincorporated northernmost island. An effort to coordinate road repair with the installation of fire hydrants will also be discussed.

Donations sought for mission
Oceanographer Fabien Cousteau, grandson of famous explorer Jacques Cousteau, is seeking donations to help fund a 31-day mission at Aquarius Reef Base.
Aquarius is an underwater science laboratory on the ocean floor about 6 miles off Key Largo.
Cousteau has delayed the underwater excursion, which was expected to start this month. A date has not yet been set.
The endeavor was planned for this year to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the late Cousteau's 30-day underwater excursion aboard ConShelf II in the Red Sea.
Fabien Cousteau plans to conduct scientific research and record the undertaking for a proposed IMAX movie. For more information, visitindiegogo.com/projects/mission-31.
