The 14th annual Take Stock in Children Back Country Challenge, held on Sept. 29, broke all records.
With over 60 anglers and over 100 supporters, the Key Largo Rotary Club declares success. It was a magical night at Jimmy Johnsons' The Big Chill. Anglers, educators, mentors, Rotarians, and the kids all came out to support the 14th annual Take Stock in Children event.
Between the delicious food, the live and silent auctions, the 50/50 raffle, and the Cooler of Cheer festivities, everyone knew what they were celebrating.
Leslie Holmes, with Take Stock in Children, shared the unbelievable success stories of Monroe Country graduates who have gone on to make a difference.
There were also lots of fishing stories floating around.
Paul DiMare was crowned the Grand Champion. George Clark Jr. was the Top Guide and Blake Gassaway took top honors in the Pro Division. A complete list of the winners including a photo journal of the event can be found at www.keylargorotary.org.
Proceeds of the event will support both Take Stock in Children and local scholarships provided by the Key Largo Rotary Club. This tournament was made possible through the generous donations of so many local businesses, most notably the premier sponsorship from KLI Home Center.
Interested parties are invited to mark their calendars now for the 15th annual event, taking place Sept. 26-29, 2014.
