June 10, 1950 to Oct. 11, 2013

Jeffrey Carl Moses, born June 10, 1950 in Watertown, S.D., to A.C. "Pete" and Mary (Latsis) Moses, died at home on Big Pine Key, Fla., surrounded by his family, friends and his beloved black lab, Cleo, after a short battle with cancer.

Jeff was a graduate of Watertown High School and attended South Dakota State University. His life journey took him to many places along the way including Denver, Colo., where he met his wife Cheryl of 26 years; Houston, Texas; Atlanta, Ga.; Miami, Fla., and finally the fabulous Florida Keys, where he laid down his roots. He worked in sales and sales management in several professions including retail home furnishings, insurance, mortgage brokerage and real estate. He co-owned Action Keys Realty in Summerland Key, Fla., with his wife, Cheryl.

He had a passion for books and writing and spent endless hours at it; he also loved to share his books with friends and family. He had a great sense of humor and has made his family and friends laugh for as long as he's been able to speak. He enjoyed golf, sports and many spirited card games with friends and family, especially during his annual trip back to South Dakota for pheasant hunting. He touched so many lives along the way and will be sadly missed on this earthly plane by all.

He is survived by his beloved wife Cheryl Moses of Big Pine Key, Fla.; mother Mary M. Moses and son T.J. (Erica) Hurkes of Watertown, S.D.; brothers Randy J. Moses of Pierre, S.D., and Mark C. Moses of Big Pine Key, Fla.; and sisters Cathy Lehman and Cindy (Gabe) Mydland, both of Brookings, S.D.; nine aunts and uncles; several nephews, nieces and cousins; and his two adorable grandchildren, Ty and Tyllie.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date and his ashes will be returned to his home town of Watertown, S.D.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Hospice of the Florida Keys.
