Oct. 5, 1935 to Oct. 6, 2013

Frances L. (Contreras) Barry (aka Mom, Grandma, and Georgia) had a wonderful life full of activity. This last year was not as nice, although God was always with her. She loved praying for others and always did her best in life. God took her home on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, the day after her 78th birthday. Now she is with her loved ones and special friends, including a former boss, Stanley Smith, and his family.

Frances was predeceased by her husband, Edward V. Barry, and her son, Robert Lilly.

She is survived by her daughter Michelle V. Fitzpatrick; grandchildren Darrin Fitzpatrick, Patrick Fitzpatrick, Samantha Contreras, and Kaden Lilly; sister Barbara Ann (Joseph) Jones; brother Carl Forsen; uncles James and Raymond Akinson; aunt Wilmer Akinson; and special friends Joyce and Jim McCauley, Sheila Chappell and son Shawn Chappell (who was raised by "Georgia"), Margie Humbert, Mary Doyle along with her minister and the congregation of the Key West Baptist Temple and so many more.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at the Key West Baptist Temple, Stock Island. Burial is planned for a later date in Hopewell, Va., where Frances was born and raised.

All arrangements were entrusted to Castillo & Thurston Key West Mortuary, 328 Truman Ave., Key West.

I will personally miss "Georgia" and wish her God's speed in her new life above us -- her friend, Joyce.
