Woman dies while snorkeling

A 75-year-old tourist died after a snorkeling trip offshore Tuesday, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Peggie Lanizzani, of Umatilla, Fla., was snorkeling with her sister from Illinois aboard the 46-foot Sundiver III, reports say. Both were on the surface at 1 p.m. when the sister realized Lanizzani was unresponsive and began pulling her back to the boat, reports say. Boat employees began CPR and continued ashore by paramedics.

Lanizzani was taken to Mariners Hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to the Sheriff's Office.

An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.
