Internist Schnapp joins Lower Keys Medical Ctr.

Board-certified internist Dr. Adrienne Schnapp recently joined the medical staff of Lower Keys Medical Center. She comes to Key West to expand the availability of primary care and adult medicine in the area and leaves behind a busy, well-established multi-specialty group practice in North Miami, where she practiced for the last three years, states a hospital press release..

Schnapp completed her internal medicine residency training at Memorial Health University Medical Center affiliated with Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah, Ga.

As an internist, Schnapp works with adult patients, and is experienced in treating a broad range of conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. Among her clinical interests are women's health, geriatrics and preventative medicine. Geriatrics is challenging, she explains, because older adults often have multiple health risks, use multiple medications and may lack strong health care advocates, a void she hopes to fill through her practice, the release states.

After growing up in a small town in Mississippi and living in the busy city of Miami, Schnapp said she is happy to return to a small-town environment. Joined by her husband, a board-certified neurologist and interventional pain specialist, and their 18-month-old daughter, she says, "We are so excited to be part of such a great community."

She said she hopes to increase residents' access to health care and provide excellent primary care for the local community.

Dr. Adrienne Schnapp is now accepting new adult patients and accepts most health insurance plans at her office with Northside Medical Associates on Northside Drive.
