New 5k set for Nov. 10
Montessori Children's School of Key West will host its first 5K run/walk at 8 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 10.
The measured course will start and finish at Higgs Beach and run along the Atlantic Ocean. A half-mile kids "fun run" will follow at 9 a.m.
Registration is $25 for adults and $15 for children 10 and under. Pre-registration is available on active.com or on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 4-7 p.m. at Montessori Children's School, 1221 Varela St. Race day registration starts at 6:30 a.m. at Higgs Beach.

No injures in bridge wreck
Two people in a car that overturned on the Seven Mile Bridge Sunday night were not seriously hurt, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
David Robert Reiser, 32, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala and Patricia Ann Coulter, 41, was a passenger, when the southbound at Mile Marker 44 when the car hit the concrete wall, reports say. It traveled up the wall and overturned before coming to rest in the northbound lane.
Both people were wearing seat belts. There were no other vehicles reported.
The crash closed the highway for about an hour, reports say.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Reiser was cited for careless driving, reports say.
Helpline hosts jazz brunch
Helpline, the crisis hotline of the Florida Keys, will host its annual Jazz Brunch and Silent Auction on Saturday, Nov. 30 at Square One restaurant in Duval Square.
Tickets are $50 and include a three-course meal at two seatings: 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Larry Baeder and Dora Golson will perform and the silent auction is from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
