FKCC HOLDS PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST

Students at Florida Keys Community College recently put a unique twist on the Halloween tradition of carving pumpkins by taking the activity 40 feet underwater in the college's dive training lagoon, on the Key West campus.

Members of the Scuba Club hosted the event, which included a haunted night dive in the lagoon, which was transformed into a watery graveyard with glow-in-the-dark decor. About 25 students carved pumpkins donated by the MARC House, while many more enjoyed additional festivities on dry land. Floyd Wilvers, who is studying Marine Environmental Technology, won the contest with his toothy Jack-o-lantern.
