Tale of the tape for turtles varies

Sea turtle nesting on Monroe County beaches was down slightly this season, but there was an abundant number of green turtle nests in the Marquesas Keys and the Dry Tortugas.

Save-A-Turtle counted roughly 65 nests on Florida Keys beaches between April 15 and Oct. 31, down from some 75 to 80 nests in 2012, according to Harry Appel, Save-A-Turtle Keys chapter president.
