City takes full blame for cemetery chopping
Dept. head promises to retrain work crews next month at mandatory session

A top Key West official apologized Tuesday for an errant work crew that cut down several protected trees in the cemetery and promised to hold training sessions Dec. 17 for all of his employees.

"We will have everyone from the community services department be able to identify and know the significance of every species of tree," said Greg Veliz, the department's director.
