Marilyn Carol Moyer

On Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, Marilyn Carol Moyer, 65, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Marilyn, better known as "Chicken" to most of Key West, was a beloved fixture in the community. Born April 29, 1948 in the area of Covington, Ky., Chicken moved to Key West in the early 1970s with her son after brief stints in Ohio and upper Florida. She tended bar at many of the better-known watering holes around town, from the early days at the Pier House to her final days at The Green Parrot. She had many wonderful stories to share from her time at these establishments.

She is survived by her beloved dog, Moxie, her son and daughter-in-law Travis Moyer and Julie Abijanac of Columbus, Ohio, her cousin Doris Poore and her family in Kentucky. All will miss her tremendously. She also leaves behind friends both far and wide too numerous to count and will be sorely missed by them all.

She was quick with a smile, loved her friends and family and enjoyed the art culture of Key West as well as enjoying time with friends. A memorial will be organized and announced at a later date around the time of Christmas and the New Year.
